Mini Rugby Home Page

Dear Parents and Players,

The 2010/2011 season will be starting soon so we felt it would be useful to provide you with as much information as possible about the coming season. If you have friends who would like to give Rugby a try bring them along too.

Times & Venues

Training will start on Saturday 4th September 2009 at 10.30am until 12.00 at the Club ground on the Ballymakenny Road and moving to the Drogheda Grammar school grounds on Mornington Road on the 3th October.

For the under 11's and 12s the School of Excellence will be starting in October. The venue will be the all weather pitch at Drogheda Town F.C. in Marion Park. This is an excellent addition to the development of the players and all of those eligible should attend.

Safety & Security

In order to ensure the safety of the mini players, we ask that parents bring the player to the relevant coach for training sessions or matches. Parents should also arrive to collect the player from the relevant coach on the training field at least five minutes before the scheduled end of session. It is the responsibility of Parents to ensure they are there to pick up their children when the session is finished. We would also encourage parents to stay and support the players from the sideline during training sessions and on match days.

Volunteers:

Any parents interested in coaching or assisting in any manner please get in the Youth Coordinator, Brian Doherty (086-8518710), or the Mini Coordinator, Marc Lynch (087-2338472), as we are always looking for new help. For those who do not want to coach but are willing to help there are many other aspects of the teams which the coaches struggle to manage in conjunction with the training and matches. Last year the parents committee were instrumental in making the year a great success and they are looking for additional people to help spread the load.

Registration & Membership:

New players must be registered to play in official competitions and a photocopy of their birth certificate or passport in addition to a completed application form. All player are required to complete membership forms and pay their membership fee which is €75 for one player and €100 for two or more siblings (ie brother or sisters). There is also a special €25 membersip for one or more siblings for those in receipt of unemployment assistance.
When registering it is important to give a mobile number to enable SMS/Texting of training/match/event notices throughout the year. This allows the coaches to easily notify all players at short notice in the event of match or training being cancelled due to weather etc. The membership form can be downloaded by clicking here

Essential Kit.

Gumshield – You must have a properly fitting Gumshield to take part in a game or in training. Football boots, Boyne Jersey, socks and shorts are required for matches. Boyne jerseys and other kit will be on sale on Registration day and all players should have their own jersey.
