Boyne U15s travelled to Maynooth University for their 2nd Leinster semi final in a week.
After a 19-10 loss for the U15B's in the division 2 Semi final the U15A's beat Portarlington 15-8 in the Division 1 semi final to book a place against either Tullow or Cill Dara in the final.
Boyne U15 A's maintained their unbeaten run in Leinster league Div 1 QTR Final against a determined Carlow side in what were dreadful playing conditions in Bryanstown. Boyne survived the concession of a first half try and fought their way back to 5-5 through a Joe Gilna try before half time. Boyne were the domimant team for the second half but could not get the backs away on a the heavy ground. After a period of sustained pressure Aaron Doolan picked from a ruck and squeezed over for a try to put Boyne in a 10-5 lead with 5 minutes to go.
U15Bs secured their semi final place as 2nd place finishers with a 36-5 win over Mullingar.
The game was played on a very heavy pitch and Boyne led at half time by 5-0. Boyne were being heavily penalised in the first half as they took the ball through the forwards and finished the half the wrong end of a 13-1 penalty count. A change of game to move every ball wide brought better results and Boyne powered into the lead with some excellent tries to finish comfortable winners.
Boyne U15B went to Tullamore on Saturday and beat Tullamore 32-5 to move to 2nd place in Division 2 with 6 wins out of 7.
After a first half which saw a 5-5 scoreline Boyne got their game going and went on to completely dominate the second half.
This was a good team performance in which Boyne showed the patience needed when things were not going their way in the first half.
This puts the team in a great position as the final placings are decided for the Division2 semi-finals.
With the youth leagues reaching completion this weekend for the 15's, with the 17's & 19's leagues already finished it has been a mixed set of results for Boyne. The Under-19's slipped up towards the end of the campaign to Naas and Dundalk to see them drop to third place with the same number of wins as both the first & second placed teams. Third place sees the under 19's travel to play Wicklow in the league quarter finals (14th January 2012). The under 17's premier league team slipped to 5th place and outside of the qualification spots while the 17's division 1 team finished in 4th spot which will see them travel to Roscrea in the new year for their quarter final. Boyne beat Dundalk in what was a tough encounter with the Dundalk team fighting right to the final whistle.
Boyne scored 7 tries with 5 of them converted by fly half Calum Lawson.
Dundalk launched their big forwards time and again but the Boyne forwards responded and dominated the rucks totally to allow Boyne to lead by 5 tries to nil at half time. Boyne started the second half with another try and Dundalk to their credit responded with two tries as Boyne tired. Boyne raised their game again and scored another converted try to finish the game off for a fine win.
