2nd XV PTC Round 2 - Boyne 28 - Clondalkin 13

The 2nd PTC campaign got back underway on Saturday 10th April, after over a month in hibernation. A well-fed Clondalkin unit travelled to Shamrock Stadium on the back of a long run of victories with the intent of adding Boyne to the list. Clondalkin started well, first slipping a tackle on halfway to score virtually unopposed, then benefitting from four successive penalties against Boyne to go from their own line to kicking for goal. At 10-0 Boyne hadn't fired a shot. Then up stepped our own "Johnny Sexton" in the form of Alan McEneaney.

2nd XV PTC-Ashbourne 11- Boyne 13

Boyne registered a fine win in this first round cup match against a good Ashbourne side in excellent conditions under lights on Friday night. Boyne played some excellent stuff in the first twenty and were rewarded with a fine try finished off by winger Conor Duff and converted by AlMac. Boyne were humimg along nicley and a penalty by Mac Enenany extended the lead to 10 to nil and an easy day at the office looked on the cards.

Boyne 2nd XV 8 Tullamore 16

Tullamore reversed an early season loss to Boyne at Shamrock Lodge on Saturday and in the process deservedly won the 2nds League Title.
Boyne’s slim chance of a league title were wiped away after this loss and now they must re group before their Towns cup match against an in form Ashbourne on Friday night under lights in Ashbourne.

Monk Wars, The Walsh Strikes Back & the Return of the Dara

a Trilogy of Games to start the year which hasn't seen the best of Boynes Seconds.
the final match of 2009 saw boyne lose out to a last minute try to Sepaoint and this seems to have knocked the wind from their sails. The X mas break was an extended one and players & coaches used all their resourcefullness to find places to train and keep things ticking over-( sweaty gyms, astro turf pitches and a wind chilled Albion Pitch).

Seapoint 12 Boyne 9

BOYNE 2NDS IN NARROW DEFEAT
Boyne travelled to Seapoint on Saturday in the hope of consolidating top spot in the league for the Christmas break. Some forced changes to the team were made in advance of the trip however with a very strong squad this year Boyne took to the field full of confidence. Seapoint opened the brighter of the two sides and were rewarded inside ten minutes with a try out wide following an off the top move at the back of the lineout. Boyne were very slow to get out of the blocks and looked under a lot of pressure in the first twenty minutes but were solid enough to keep the score down 0-5.

Boyne 2nds 21 Dundalk 2nds 6

Playing their 2nd away home match of the season boyne 'wanderers' accounted for their county rivals for the 2nd time in the season and remained top of Division 1a of the leinster 2nds league as a result. Indeed but for a dropped pass in the last phase of play Boyne could have achieved a winning try bonus point for the first time this season but young Shane cambell will be forgiven by his teammates as he had an excellent match and showed his versatility by filling in at full back for Neil Gernon after an earlier stint at his more familiar no 9 slot.

Tullamore 2nds 10 Boyne 2nds 12

Boyne travelled to league leaders Tullamore on Saturday knowing a win was a must. Preparations were severly hampered when Boyne were informed of a 5.0pm as opposed to a 5.15 kick off which after a 2 hour bus journey wasn't appreciated. Boyne used this slur as great motivation and started the game with great purpose leading 12 minutes after as many minutes. Tries by captain Caimhin Hall and centre Rice let Tullamore know early that Boyne meant business, in fact the lead should have being 20 points but for wayward goal kicking by the otherwise reliable MacEnaeny.

Boyne 2nd XV 17 Skerries 14

Another win for Boyne which keeps them in touch with league toppers Tullamore. A severe cross pitch wind was always going to dictate tactical proceedings and limited the amount of free flowing rugby, nevertheless a good tough contest between two well matched teams ensued. Boyne played against the wind in the first half and held Skerries to a 3-14 halftime score. Boynes only score coming off the boot of Al Mac after a brillant hit by captain Mickey Maher directly from the Kick off after Skerries try.

Monstown 24 Boyne 23

Boyne's luck finally ran out in Sydney Parade on Saturday as they suffered their first league defeat to a defiant Monkstown side. Boyne have being unable to kill off teams all season and had this game in the bag after a third try in the 17th minute of the 2nd half by the returning Nial Carolan put them 23 10 infront in what had being a see saw battle till that point. However a few rash decisions and a lack of composure allowed Monstown in for 2 converted tries in the last twenty minutes to snatch victry and leave Boyne with a losing bonus point to ease their woes.
