Pitch Development Fund

Dear Members and Friends,

Boyne RFC is embarking on a major project to upgrade the pitches at the club grounds in Shamrock Lodge. The aim is to bring the playing facilities into the modern era with all weather standard pitches – constructed to the highest standards of design and using the highest quality materials.

Winter upon winter we have had to suffer from the poor condition of our pitches and have been forced to give up home advantage in important competitive matches due to the unsatisfactory condition of our grounds. Our 350 Youths and Minis players also rarely get the opportunity to play on their home ground of Shamrock Lodge

We are endeavouring to change this situation for good and give the club pitches that will not only withstand the rigours of our winters but also provide the first class surface to further develop the fast open and attractive game which is a hallmark of Boyne Rugby.

The plan is to proceed with the development in 2 phases – completing 1 pitch and associated drainage, fencing and other infrastructure before moving to the second phase – a second pitch, training area and floodlighting.

The first phase cost is €150k and full details are given in the leaflet attached.

Any assistance you can give with this project would be most gratefully appreciated. Also, if you are aware of any other friend of yours who may also be in a position to assist us with our funding appeal we would be very glad of the referral.

Yours in Rugby,
Paddy McCleery

Boyne 1st XV 21 - 34 Naas (Leinster Senior League Cup)

Last Saturday saw PTC winners Boyne commence their season against AIL Div 3 opponents, Naas, in the Leinster Senior League. This is a competition that the Drogheda club qualified, through finishing in 2nd place in the Leinster Div 1 A league last season. Whilst it is a senior competition and gives an opportunity to qualifying AIL teams to test their mettle against AIL opposition, nevertheless, it also gives peripheral squad players a chance to show their ability.

Boyne Table Quiz

The club will be holding a novel and fun Audio/Visual Table Quiz and Mastermind night in the Bettystown Court Hotel on Thursday 9th of September 2010 @ 8:30pm

There will be questions to suit everyones level of intelligencia. The quiz will be high tech in presentation but the content will provide plenty of entertainment for the participants and nobody should be overawed, because the emphasis will be on enjoyment and something to suit everybody.
