Boyne Under-19's efforts to add the Culliton cup to the towns cup won by the seniors came up just short in this entertaining decider at Donnybrook on the May bank holiday Monday.
Opponents Enniscorthy were the more fancied side, but Boyne - coached by first-team players Cillian Duffy & Niall Kerbey - shaded the early exchanges on a pitch that resembled a sandy beach in parts. After eight minutes Boyne won good ball from a ruck , and when full-back Ciaron Clinton entered the line he off-loaded in the tackle to the supporting Robert Tallon to run in unopposed for an excellent try.

The dream ended at Naas on Sunday last for the Boyne under 19's when they went down to a very strong New Ross team in this semi-final of the Leinster Under 19's league. The New Ross side entered this game as strong favourites and boast a very strong side with several representative players in their team. It was evident from the outset that the Boyne boys would have a job on their hands to contend with a very physical New Ross set of forwards.

The success that Boyne is having this year is not confined to their senior sides. Whilst the senior sides in the club wrapped up their pre christmas campaigns the week before, the under 19's had to travel to Wicklow last Saturday to take on the home side in the quarter final of the Culleton Cup. The original fixture fell victim to the recent bad weather and it was a home game for Boyne. However, the venue was reversed when Wicklow made the futile journey to Drogheda and the official deemed the pitch unplayable.

Boyne U19s made the journey to Barnhall on Saturday last for a difficult assignment in their Leinster League programme.
Conditions were very wet underfoot with a blustery cold wind blowing across the pitch.
Boyne started tamely and allowed the host team to seize the early initiative.
The visitors were fortunate not to concede early points when Barnhall missed an easy penalty from just outside the 22 metre line
