The Under-16 team is for players who were aged 15 on the 1st of January 2011, i.e. whose date of birth is in 1995. The club has again decided to run the U-16's and U-17's as a joint panel for the 2010 / 2011 season so all match reports, updates etc will be reported in the U-17 category.
The draws for the Schools-Youth cups, which are open to club teams consisting of both club and schools players was made this week. Boyne entered teams in the U-13, U-14, U-15, U-16 and U-17 competitions. The draws are attached.
Boyne has had 6 players selected for the initial training panel for the North East Development squad. This is very much a preliminary squad and players will be added and removed over the coming season as form and ability dictate.

The Boyne 16’s finished their 2009 cup campaign by losing out to all Ireland U16’s youth finalists Navan at the Lodge on Saturday.
The home team were very determined from the start and controlled the majority of the play in the first half.
Boyne were awarded a penalty after ten minutes and a brave effort from Karl Keogh just failed to covert from 45 yards but had the Navan team on the back foot.
Boyne under 16’s hosted UK team touring team Stratford Upon Avon RFC at the Lodge on Saturday and came away with an impressive win. After a evenly balanced fifteen minutes Danny Grimes intercepted a Stratford back line pass and won a sprint to the line to score Boyne’s first try. Stratford responded with their first try of the game before Michael Hennessy scored Boyne’s second try and Karl Keogh added a penalty to brings Boyne’s points tally to 17 – 5 by half time.
Boyne finally showed their true potential when they played their Cup replay match at the Lodge on Saturday coming in with a convincing 39-0 win against Clane who they drew with the previous week.
It was ten minutes before Michael Hennessy broke the Clane line to claim the first Boyne try which was converted by Karl Keogh.
Minutes later Ciaron Clinton ran in a second try followed by two penalties kicked by a very solid Karl Keogh gave Boyne a 20 – 0 lead by half time.
A tough encounter in the first round of the Leinster Cup saw Boyne come through with a well eared 15 to 7 victory against Edenderry in Bryanstown on Saturday.
In windy conditions which were to Boyne’s advantage in the first half saw most of the possession in Edenderry territory. It was twenty Minutes before David Levin’s playing at out half created the opening for the Boyne backs to create their fist try. Cormac Brodigan playing at full back broke through the Edenderry defence to place the ball over the line and the conversion by Karl Keogh ensured a seven point lead.
A seven try blitz against Virginia on Saturday bodes well for a revitalized Boyne under 16 squad.
The Ulster regional league winners visited Boyne seeking some strong opposition as a warm up to their regional cup semi final game in a few weeks and got more than they expected.
In the first half a very solid Boyne pack led by Hugh Carolan secured plenty of possession allowing scrum half Chris Lockyer to feed the Boyne backs with consistent clean ball.
Boyne traveled to Dundalk for a friendly match on Saturday and provided an excellent display of solid team rugby.
This match was an opportunity to integrate several members of Boyne’s successful under fifteen team into the 16 squad and boost their chances of progressing in their Leinster league challenge.
The Dundalk squad who have already reached the semi final stage of the Leinster league were very well drilled and made several breaks early in the game but failed to break the Boyne defense.
Boune 16 ‘s hosted Navan at the Lodge on Saturday playing their final North East fixture of the year.
This gave Boyne the opportunity of bringing together a number of under 15 players to play in the sixteen squad and build some much needed playing time.
In what only can described as a mud bath, the playing conditions limited the use of free flowing back play and the majority of the action consisted of a battle of the packs.
