Busy 4 days for U13's

Boyne U13's started what is a busy 4 days with a loss to Barnhall 19 - 27 in the Leinster Youth Cup Qtr final on Saturday. This was a turnaround from the away fixture pre christmas and Barnhall were a much improved side. Barnhall were much the better side in the first half but Boyne fought their way back into the game through wing sean Callaghan and Jack Keogh. It was a credit to the Boyne side that they fought right to the end of the match.
Boyne picked up from the disappointment of Saturday to record a 25- 5 win against Newbridge on Sunday in the Schools/Youth Plate. Boyne had a nervous start and were guilty of ball watching for the first 10 minutes but gradually took control of the game and got their first try through wing Sean OCallaghan, Newbridge equalised early in the second half before Boyne turned the screws again with 2 tries from left wing Neil Reilly and one each from centre Nathan Shiel and full back Jack Keogh. Some subs on the Newbridge side added some bite to their play but they were kept out by some good Boyne tackling. Adam Delaney, Dan Grennan and Cathal Downey put in fine performances in the pack and Jack Higgins had an excellent game at scrumhalf keeping the newbridge half under constant pressure. Overall it was a fine performance form Boyne and a good result before their match against UK tourists Alton RfC in the club this Tuesday at 6pm.
