Boyne had their first onfield activity last Saturday when they visited the splendid facilities of Coolmine RFC for a training game of four halves. The west Dublin side are now coached by former Irish International Willie Anderson who has his charges in good shape whilst Boyne coach, Craig McGrath had more than 40 players in his travelling contingent. The match took place in four phases and Boyne fielded different combinations in each of the quarters. This gave each of the aspiring players a chance to put themselves into the spotlight and a particular noticeable feature was the amount of young players that were in the Boyne set up. Coolmine had their best squad lined up and they came out on top in the four quarters showing that they will be a formidable force in their Leinster League Diviision this season. Boyne on the other hand are still going through their pre-season preparations with McGrath and his assistant coaches, Eoin Collins, Ian Stewart, Gaz Downey and Emmet Finegan running the rule over all the players in pre-season training. Senior side Old Belvedere were their opponents in another friendly on Tuesday evening in Balbriggan.
