Leinster Girls u15 League Quarter Final.
Naas 38 - Boyne/Ardee 5
Saturday was a beautiful day for this U15 league quarter final against Naas, a Division 1 team. Naas got off to a fine start with 3 quick tries. After a slow start, Ardee/Boyne got back into the match to make some fine tackles and gain some momentum with some excellent running from Tara McGuinness and Ciara Callaghan. However, despite super defensive work from Sydney Sterio, Isobel Scanlon and Zoe Ettie, Naas got in for a fourth try just before half time. In the second half, Boyne/Ardee settled better into the match showing some excellent defensive work from Ellie Mullane, Caoimhe Doherty and Jasmine Carroll. There were also some fine runs from Shannon Sweeney, Mia Walsh and Jessica Woodlock. On the wing, Abby McCoy made a great break for the line but got tackled just short of the line. This was a turning point as in the last 15 minutes of the game, the Boyne/Ardee players got back possession of the ball and worked their way up the pitch and kept hammering on the line and were finally rewarded for their efforts with scrum half Laura McDonald touching down for the try. Although the girls lost the match 38-5, the hard work from the girls during the league has earned them a semi-final in the plate with a home match next week.
