Leinster Girls u'18 League  Quarter final

Boyne/Ardee 31 - Arklow 0

Boyne/Ardee reach Semi-final.

Boyne/Ardee u'18 Girls put in a tremendous performance and delivered a comprehensive win against Arklow in Ardee on Sunday, scoring 5 great tries in the process. On a beautiful day made for running rugby Ardee/Boyne took the game to their opponents from the outset and their powerful pack laid the foundations for this fine victory. From the kick-off, Ardee/Boyne went on the attack and early pressure from the home side saw Aoife O'Malley, Olive Maguire and Susie Keogh make strong runs deep into the Arklow 22. A resultant penalty was tapped quickly by Louise McCleery and with some sharp footwork, she evaded the defensive cover to get in for the first try. A second try followed soon after when Tess Meade scored following good handling by Holly Keogh and Emer McCoy. Niamh Tester added a fine conversion. Arklow then had their best spell of the match and mounted attack after attack against Boyne/Ardee but strong tackling from Hannah Ettie and Soha Smith ensured the homeside's defence held firm and the half-time score remained 12-0. In the second half, Boyne/Ardee brought on Rebecca Murray and Roisin Feehan and immediately took back the initiative pinning Arklow back deep into their own half. A fine turnover by Niamh Tester allowed Louise McCleery to break along the touchline and scamper over in the corner for her second try and the third try of the match. Boyne/Ardee were now in full control of the game and Aine Reilly showed great strength to drive over for the fourth try converted again by Niamh Tester. With the game entering the final phase Breahna Millington, having a super game at full back, scored under the posts following a move in which almost every Boyne/Ardee player handled the ball. Niamh Tester added the points once again to leave the final score 31-0 in favour of the homeside.

This was another fine display from the u'18 Girls and the result means they have reached the semi-finals of the Leinster League in this their first season.
