Boyne V Wicklow U13

Under 13 Leinster shield Q/F
Boyne 32 Wicklow 31
Boyne and Wicklow played out an absolute cracker of a match on a fresh Sunday morning in Shamrock lodge.
Wicklow started brightest scoring 2 tries without reply putting them 14 to nil in front after just 6 minutes. Boyne responded well with captain David Hobbs leading the line touching down twice with some powerful runs. Wicklow scored again in the corner before Alan Foley touched down in the corner to leave the game nicely poised at Boyne 15 Wicklow 19 at half time. Wicklow started the second half strongly scoring again through their standout no.12. At this point there looked like no way back for Boyne however they kept plugging away and were rewarded when Evan Kelly offloaded to Danny Little who touched down for Boyne’s 4th try. Boyne were now taking control of the game through their pack and this was rewarded when centre Sean Horan was released to score under the posts. This was converted by Euan Canniffe. The game ebbed and flowed at this point before Wicklow’s No.12 again broke free to score under the posts with just minutes left on the clock. Boyne were 4 points behind at this stage but the belief was there and after sustained pressure within the Wicklow 22, Euan Canniffe squeezed into the corner to touch down for the winning score. This was a marvellous example of passion and commitment by both sides and the tears of both joy and disappointment at the end was testament to the effort and heart of these young men.
