Boyne U13's in Leinster Plate Final

Boyne 41 North Kildare 17 Leinster Shield Semi Final
Boyne brushed aside North Kildare in the semi final of the Leinster Shield to book a well earned place in the final next week against Cill Dare. Boyne were quickest off the block when with only 2 minutes on the clock, David Hobbs broke the North Kildare line to touch down. Soon afterwards, Boyne forwards created good space and the backs released the ball to winger Alex Hanratty who outfoxed Kildares full back to score near the corner. David Hobbs added a further try again with a typical strong break. The try was successfully converted by Euan Canniffe. Flanker Lee Grifferty then found himself at the end of another strong Boyne attack to touch down in the corner. N.Kildare pulled a try back soon after leaving the score 22-5 at half time. The second half was a similar affair with North Kildare unable to cope with Boynes mix of running rugby and powerful forward play. This time it was centre Alan Foley who broke free to touch down. Again Canniffe was successful. From virtually the kick off, Foley was in again for his second try. With 13 minutes gone in the second half, Boynes solid scrum inside the Kildare 22, allowed No.8 Hobbs peel of the back of the scrum to secure his well earned hat trick. Boyne made several changes at this point and Kildare pulled 2 tries back in the closing minutes leaving the final score Boyne 41 – North Kildare17. Given the fact that Boyne are still missing several key players through injury, this was a superb performance and credit to the strength of the squad.
