Mini's 2017/2018 Season kicks off on Saturday 26th August in Shamrock Lodge from 10am.
Our 1st Blitz of the season found us at Balbriggan with 3 teams of 9 each playing 3 games.
This was our 1st Blitz with the uncontested lineouts and scrums and as much as possible I tried to ensure it was different people in every scrum and lineout as it is only by giving everybody the practice they will get used to it.
Minis Start of Season Training, Saturday 22nd August in Shamrock Lodge from 10am.
Text will be sent by each coach with specific times for that age group.
Boyne RFC U12's Left Shamrock Lodge at 8am on a snowy wet day on the 22nd of March To Tullamore for the Tullamore U12's Rugby Festival. It was a cold day down there but the sun shone for all the games, with just one snow shower. Both Boyne teams played exceptionally well and represented their club to the highest standard.
The U9 crew had their first blitz of the year in Navan on Saturday and 32 kids made the trip bright and early with a 10.30 K.O. We had three teams and all 3 Boyne teams were much stronger than their opponents with some very good rugby on display considering some of these players have not even turned 8 yet. Particular mention has to go to Tadhg Kearney,Tom Matthews, Mark Berney, Matthew McEntee and the rest of their team. They had to play with a restricted 3 pass rule and some different interpretations of breakdown but kept their heads high with great tackling and positive play.
The U11 & U12 School of Excellence ( SOE ) starts Wednesday September 25th in Shamrock Lodge. The sessions will be in the deadball area of the new pitch under floodlights.
The SOE focuses on core skills such as passing, tackling and decision making and does not include matches etc as part of the session.
The SOE is NOT delivered by the normal U11, U12 coaches. Declan McKeown (L1 qualified coach) assisted by senior team players delivers these sessions. Having the SOE this early sets the players up nicely for the remainder of the season.
