Covid 19 and training There are plenty of new informational announcements, some Covid related and some rugby related so I would appreciate everyone paying close attention to any communications in the coming days and weeks.

We are beginning training at a slightly later time 1030 this season. This is to avoid congestion in the car parks and at the new Covid station. We will train until 1145 and we are going to be on the same pitch as last season in Drogheda Grammar School.

We have returned to sport under the current rules about Covid. As such coach Hugh James is going to be the squad Covid Officer.

In order to participate in any activity parents will need to do two things. Firstly, Hughie will need confirmation that you have read the club Covid training. Most parents have now done this, if you have not please complete ASAP.

Secondly, before each training session parents will need to complete a health check form for the player and any adult accompanying them. Hughie has this digital form and will release it to the group on Friday for completion on the day of training by the parent BEFORE arriving at training. If you have kids playing GAA or other sports hopefully you have seen this type of digital form. Each player may have an adult accompany them to training and may spectate as long as they are social distancing from other spectators.

Upon arrival all players should use the hand sanitizer that will be available at the sanitizer station (see map attached). All players should bring a bottle of water as normal for training, but please ensure it is labeled. There can be no sharing water bottles. Also note that the toilets at the school will be closed.

This season I will need all parents to be very responsive to any activity RSVP that we issue for training

U12 Tour to Wales January 2016

After much anticipation and preparation, the 48 strong Boyne RFC U12 touring party met at Dublin airport on Thursday January 7th at 3.30pm to catch our flight to Cardiff. The energy levels were sky high as players, parents and coaches checked in for our first trip abroad together. As we congregated at our departure gate, the U12’s eagerly looked out for their rugby heroes. Leo Cullen was the first to round the corner followed shortly by the entire Leinster squad.

Under-12's @ Leinster Blitz (Tullamore)

Boyne RFC U12's Left Shamrock Lodge at 8am on a snowy wet day on the 22nd of March To Tullamore for the Tullamore U12's Rugby Festival. It was a cold day down there but the sun shone for all the games, with just one snow shower. Both Boyne teams played exceptionally well and represented their club to the highest standard.

U12s get the better of Dundalk in the Lodge

Boyne U12s hosted Dundalk RFC last Sunday on a cold but dry morning at Shamrock Lodge. The teams began arriving at 10.30am for an 11.00am kick-off.

Again we had a very large turnout for this Metro Fixture and we made up two squads with 17 players in each squad. Thankfully Dundalk travelled with about 25 players so the coaches agreed to play 12-a-side rather than the normal 10-a-side recommended for this agegroup. Each team played two twenty minute matches, with the replacements rolling on and off constantly.

Boyne U12s - Tough Test vs St Mary's

Boyne U12s played on the new all weather pitch in Shamrock Lodge last Sunday morning, when St Mary’s RFC travelled up to Drogheda for a Metro League fixture with an 11am kick-off.

The Boyne U12s showed up in good numbers yet again so we made up two equal squads with 16 players in each squad. Similar to last week St Mary’s agreed to play 12-a-side rather than the normal 10-a-side, so we had less lads standing on the side-line waiting to be rolled in and out of the matches, something that often upsets the cohesion of the team.

U12s vs Ashbourne & Balbriggan

Boyne U12s had an early start last Sunday morning, when Ashbourne & Balbriggan made the relatively short trip to Shamrock Lodge for a 10.30am kick-off.

Again we had a very large turnout for these North East Fixtures and we made up two squads with 17 players in each squad. Thankfully both Ashbourne & Balbriggan agreed to play 12-a-side rather than the normal 10-a-side, so we had less lads standing on the side-line waiting to be rolled in and out of the matches, something that often upsets the cohesion of the team.

U12s Season well underway

Boyne U12s season is well underway now having played 5 fixtures already this season.

Our large squad of over 40 players seem very keen to improve this season showing up in great numbers for training twice a week (Wednesday & Saturday) and matches every 2nd Sunday. New squad members are starting to make an impression with the likes of Gerard, Cathal O’M, Tom and Tanner blending into the squad seamlessly.
