Boyne U13 Leinster League win against Birr

Boyne U13’s got back to winning ways on Saturday with a hard fought four try win away against Birr. This was the first game of 2013 and with only one good training sessions under their belt since Christmas the coaches expected some rustiness. This however did not materialise and the boys got straight into the game from the kickoff. Boyne, playing against the wind scored the only try in the first half after some good quick ruck ball provided by the forwards before the ball went through all hands before it reached the flying winger Philip Kirk to score in the corner.

U13 B - North East League Boyne 14 - Navan 17

Navan came away with the spoils but only just. Navan kicked off and torn into Boyne from the getgo and it took the Boyne lads some time to get into the game. Navan were determined to spread the ball wide at every opportunity and scored two nice tries before the break. However, this game really only kicked into life in the second half with Boyne down 10 to 0, and now playing with 15 (Thanks to Glen M's brother Karl for standing in).

U13's A win hard fought match away in Ashbourne

Boyne U13's A travelled to Ashbourne last Tuesday evening to fullfil the previously postponded North East League fixture. This was the first time the boys played a game under lights and they were eager to impress. Boyne played with the wind in the first half and it looked like Boyne were not going to be rewarded with a score before half time after camping themselves in the Ashbourne half for the entire half but a score from Cian Fitzpatrick and conversion by James Farrell ensured that the boys went 7-0 into thye second half.

Boyne U13 A leave it late for great win against Dundalk

Boyne travelled to Dundalk in their fourth game in the NE League competition on a beautiful autumnal morning. Both teams were sizing each other up for the first 15 minutes before Dundalk broke away to score their first converted try. Boyne reacted and scored a try in the corner by Cody O'Neill but James Farrell narrowly missed the conversion. Score 7-5 Dundalk. With two minutes before half time Dundalk scored again with a fine run by their Centre who went untouched over the try line, down to some poor tackling by Boyne.

U13 Boyne A Vs Skerries 7th Oct

Boyne A U13's welcomed Skerries to Shamrock Lodge but unfortunatly went down 19-17 in a very close and hard fought game. Tries by Max McGloin (conversion by James Farrell), Fergal Moore and Niall McEnerney were not enough to put Skerries away who also scored three tries, two of which were under the posts.
Boyne put in a great effort in the dying minutes but Skerries hung on for the win.

U13's A & B go down to Navan at the Bru na Boinne festival - North East Leinster League/Shield

North East League. The U13's A went down 24-0 to a well drilled Navan side. This was the very first outing for the boys at this code (15 aside) and also playing for the first time on a full side pitch. Navan were disiplined in their attack and always seemed to have a complete backline whereas Boyne had to continually scramble in defence and try and make up the numbers due to the Boyne backline getting sucked into rucks or generally ball watching. This was Navan's third game and it showed as they were better organized.
