Athy V Boyne U 14's Leinster Premier League

Athy 36 Boyne 7 Boyne travelled to Athy with a depleted squad due to several injuries. With only 1 reserve forward on the bench, this was always going to be a huge challenge. This is the 3rd time these teams have met this year and with one win each, the teams are normally well matched. Boyne needed to start well and unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. Trailing by 2 tries after the first 6 minutes meant it was an uphill battle for Boyne for the remainder of the match. Calum Stereo was unlucky not to get on score sheet after a great break only be get caught by a last gasp Athy tackle.

U14 Boyne v Athy

Boyne kicked off the new year with a home game against Athy in Shamrock Lodge on Sunday morning. Sitting joint second on points with Athy after 2 games, this was a vital match for two sides hoping to secure a semi final spot in this years competition. Both teams marked the occasion with a very touching minutes silence for Mullingar under 14 player Ben Murray who tragically passed away last week.

Boyne v Athy U14 Win

Boyne faced up to one of the favourites for the U14 Leinster league on Saturday morning at Shamrock Lodge.

Athy went into the game as firm favourites with a very impressive record of only 3 defeats in the last 3 years and having not conceded a try in their last 2 games.

U14's Boyne 40 v Navan 5

Navan 5 Boyne 40
Boyne again proved too strong for Navan in this Leinster group match on Saturday morning. The game started as a tight encounter however as the first half progressed, Boyne stepped up the pace and put Navan under continuous pressure. On 18 minutes, the first score finally came when a set piece off the back of a scrum allowed Stefan Borrs touch down. The same player converted. On 23minutes, Boyne moved the ball through the backs and a line break and off load by Borrs released Alex Hanraty who ran free under the posts. Again Borrs was successful with conversion.
