Boyne players selected for North East

Boyne has had 6 players selected for the initial training panel for the North East Development squad. This is very much a preliminary squad and players will be added and removed over the coming season as form and ability dictate.
Congrationlations and best wishes to Ciaron Clinton, Danny Grimes, Ruairi Hickey, Oisin Howell, John McDonnell and Conor Smyth.

Boyne U-15’s Complete League and Cup Double

Boyne U15’s completed a very successful season with a well deserved victory against Navan to lift the U15’s School/Youths cup. It was a fitting end to a season where the whole squad work hard all year and deserved their cup and league success.
On Sunday 25th April in Skerries, Boyne faced a Navan outfit who are always competitive at this level. Unfortunately they came across a Boyne team that kept their best rugby of the season for this day. A try tally of eight to two was a result of excellent rugby, coupled with unrelenting pressure when the opposition had the ball.

Boyne 15's reach Schools/Youth Final

On Saturday last Boyne met Mullingar in a very competitive and physical cup semi final in Navan. Boyne started at 100 mph with quick ruck ball to release their backs. It was only a matter of time before this led to a score. Centre Cormac Brodigan finished off a slick move to score near the posts which was converted by Richard Keane. Mullingar, who were playing with the wind in their backs in the first half came back at Boyne. They established good field position in Boyne’s 22, but could not score the try they desperately desired, and came away with only three points from a penalty.

Boyne 15's lose to Czech National team

Boyne hosted the Czech under 15 national squad over the weekend of the 20th - 22nd March and this culminated in a rugby fixture on Sunday between the Boyne 15's and their Czech guests. A great display of rugby was watched by supporters,Boyne & Czech teams parents and the Czech commercial attache Bohuslav Zavadil. The teams both defended well but some excellent running rugby saw both teams score 2 tries apiece in the 1st half, all converted - including one excellent sideline conversion from Boyne's Richard Keane - to turn around with the score at 14 - 14. The second half was a tighter affair and the Czechs strength showed in the end when they went over for a further 2 tries while holding Boyne scoreless.

Boyne to host Czech National Squad

Boyne under 15's will play host to the Czech national squad this coming weekend, March 20th to 22nd. The under 15's squad first met a Czech team when on tour in Luxembourg in 2007 when they were an under-13 side. Two of the players, Boyne hooker, Ruairi Hickey, and Brno scrum half Richard Mazur kept up contact, both featuring as guest players for each others teams over the coming seasons.

Boyne U 15’s progress to the School/Youth cup semi final

Boyne travelled to Naas last Sunday to compete in an entertaining, but very competitive tough cup match. Boyne played with the wind in their backs for the first half and kept Naas pinned in their 22 for most of the half. Unfortunately all they had to show for their efforts at half time was a try by Ruairi Hickey and a penalty by Richard Keane.

Boyne 15's win Leinster Schools / Youth League final

At a windy Barnhall, Boyne beat a very good De La Salle Palmerston side by 38-5 to pick up the Leinster Schools/Youth League trophy. This was an even better performance than their win in the semi-final for the simple reason that the game plan developed at their training sessions was played to perfection. By simply playing rugby in the correct parts of the field, helped by the excellent positional kicking by outhalf Richard Keane, DLSP could not cope with a Boyne team that clicked on the day.

U-15's win League Semi-final

Boyne defeated Barnhall by 11 points in this closely contested semi-final, only pulling clear with a try in the last play of the game. Try scorers included Ruairi Hickey, Ryan Farrell and man of the match, Shane Rooney.
Boyne came out on top of this thrilling encounter played in Ashbourne on Sunday morning. The final score would suggest a comfortable win but it was far from that. The match was still in balance with five minutes remaining.
