Boyne u18’s v Ashbourne u19/u20 Ashbourne 17 - 19 Boyne This was a huge step up in opposition for this Boyne side, with Ashbourne being short of numbers at the u18 level, our young side kicked off against an Ashbourne side made up of a select group of players from their u19 and u20 sides. This was a coveted exhibition match with great support from locals and distinguished guests that included the President of Leinster rugby and the President of IRFU.
Boyne under 18's
Pre-season friendly v Suttonians Rfc
This was the under 18's first game under the new age grade regulations, with the combination of new players and some having a second year at this level, there was a new look to the this years team based around the core players from last years Under 17's.
This was a super win for Boyne, the first over Sutton for this group of players. All the pre- season training in the gym and on the bikes has certainly paid off with super performances from the lads, old and new.

Over the past few seasons we have been aware that youth players have increasingly been attending the gym to improve their strength and athleticism. Gym work can be hugely beneficial to rugby players, athletes and all teenagers if done correctly and supervised by appropriate coaches. However, if done incorrectly it can be hugely detrimental to a players development and increase the risk/frequency of injury.
With this in mind, Boyne RFC are offering an 8 week program over the summer to the Under 16's (1999 birthday) through to the Under 19's (1996) which will target Strength & Conditioning and ball skills.
The program will start On Tuesday June 24th and will run each Tuesday & Thursday for 8 weeks, finishing on Thursday 21st August.
ex Munster, Leinster & Boyne player Niall Ronan (incoming Director of Rugby) will be coaching the Strength & Conditioning module with Boyne Senior Coach Mike Walls coaching the skills module. The focus will be on core strength, mobility, strength & agility and ball skills.
The program will develop a pathway for the under 16 through to under 19 which builds on previous years to enable the under 19 to progress seamlessly to adult rugby.
Depending on numbers we will split the group by age with sessions as follows:
Tuesday & Thursday 10:00 - 11:45 (Session 1)
11:45 - 1:30 (Session 2)
The cost of the 8 week program is €50 (or €4 per session if preferred).
If you are interested in attending these sessions please email firstname.lastname@example.org so we can estimate numbers and confirm the schedule.

At last Saturdays pre-match lunch Boyne RFC honoured their latest young prodigy who has followed in the path of many of the clubs previous youths who have gone on to representative honours. The picture shows Jack Foley receiving an award from the club Vice President, Phoebe Leonard, in honour of his inclusion on the Leinster Youths squad this season. Jack is a member of the Boyne Under 19’s team.
Boyne under 19's travelled to Ashbourne to take on NUIM Barnhall in their delayed Leinster League Division I semi-final. Conditions on the day were very windy and credit to both teams for the quality of rugby played. A slow Boyne start allowed Ashbourne in for 2 early tries to go 12 - 0 up before Boyne started to grow into the game. A dominant Boyne scrum gave a good platform and a Boyne try brought the score to 12 - 5 at half time.
