Boyne's great fight to survive in senior rugby continued on Saturday last at Shamrock Lodge when they produced another top class performance to defeat Limerick side Old Crescent and also managed to score four tries which earned them a bonus point.
The men from the south west had already ensured their safety with good early season wins which saw them consolidate a mid table position. Nevertheless, their form and league table position suggested that Boyne needed to be on their best form to gain something from this game.

Whatever about their precarious position in the AIL table the Boyne faithful are not prepared to give up on their team's fight for survival. A large contingent from the Drogheda club travelled to Navan on Friday night last to cheer on the team against their fellow North East rivals. This was a vital fixture for Boyne, and it was a simply must win game for the side. In previous AIL encounters between the teams, Navan, always held the upper hand and were unbeaten by Boyne.

This indeed was a heartbreaking defeat for this Boyne side having turned in an excellent performance in a very entertaining game at Shamrock Lodge before a large attendance. That they did not gain at least a bonus point for their efforts, conceding a very harsh penalty in the concluding minutes, was rough justice for their courageous display.

This ever improving Boyne team gave a fine performance on Saturday last at Shamrock Lodge with their efforts thwarted when they lost their focus at vital periods to give the initiative to the visitors who fully capitalised on momentary lack of concentration to take vital scores which proved costly for Boyne.

Just as this game commenced the early bright very cold weather turned nasty and a huge black cloud came from the North West accompanied by heavy snow and a stiff arctic wind which made conditions very difficult for the players.

Boyne made another trip to Munster, their 6th so far this season, on Saturday last when they took on fellow strugglers, Richmond, at their Canal Bank grounds in what could only be described as arctic conditions. On setting out for the journey to the Limerick venue, conditions on the east coast were cold but dry and sunny perfect. Just before the game commenced the climate deteriorated.
Boyne's task was made all the more difficult with a heavy pitch suiting the home team whose strength lay in their bigger pack of forwards.

Midleton 27 - 0 Boyne Senior XV (AIL - 15/11/2014)

Boyne played their fifth game in this league on Saturday last and this was their third away trip to the rebel county to play Middleton, having earlier played Kanturk and Highfield in this league. A large contingent of club supporters travelled with the team to give them support and they stayed in the Cork town overnight on Saturday last.
The Middleton side have recruited well and as a result of this they are a much stronger outfit than the one which visited Shamrock Lodge last year.
