Ulster Bank AIL Div 2C Boyne 16pts Wanderers 19pts

This was a must win game for the Boyne side to avoid the prospect of making the long trek to Middleton this week seeking a win to preserve their AIL status outright. It was not to be however and with the two sides below them on the league table winning their games the loss against Wanderers was further compounded.
This was a weekend which saw the whole country celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising and it certainly will not be lost on Boyne rugby supporters, the irony of this game taking place on Easter Saturday and ending up on a 19 – 16 score line.

Old Crescent 31 - 16 Boyne Senior XV (AIL Div 2C)

This was Boyne’s first trip to Rosbrien the home of Old Crescent RFC. The Limerick club are going well this year and their ambition is to win promotion to Div 2A. They certainly posted their intentions of doing this from the outset of this game when they ran everything and spurned penalty kicks at goal in order to gain territorial advantage from lineouts close to the Boyne line where they could take off the top and drive at the Boyne line to score tries.

Senior XV 32 - 13 Sligo (AIL Div. 2C)

That rugby is the topic of the moment was apparent at Shamrock Lodge on Saturday last when one of the largest attendances for a Boyne game turned out to see this encounter with Sligo. Another feature that helped bring rugby folk out was the glorious weather which prevailed on the day reminding people of a summers day such was the climate.
Sligo made the journey down from the North West hoping to achieve their first win over a Boyne side who won all their previous encounters. The men from the North West were also trying desperately to gain their first win of their AIL campaign.

Ulster Bank AIL Div 2B Bruff 12pts Boyne 27pts

Boyne have encountered many highs and lows during their relatively short history. However, the raw emotion which their players and faithful supporters displayed following this game has never been witnessed before. The emotion was mixed with jubilation and relief that this young side would continue to play at this level following the serious commitment and dedication they had shown when their ability was at times doubted as to whether they would survive in AIL rugby.
