The Under-7 team is for players, who were born in 2006
To be in the Under 7's team your child needs to become 6 years old between 1st January - 31 December 2012. Children born in 2007 will also be considered.
Please make sure your child always has their gum shield.
Please Note that All rugby at this age is non-competitive, the emphasis is on learning to play and having fun !! At Under 7 level there is no tackling. This is to allow the kids to get a feel for the game, ball time, evasion techiques and generally get to learn the basic rules of Rugby. Most kids are watching the 6 Nations with serious professional full contact and want to copy their heroes on the big screen. For the safety of all, enjoyment and development please make the kids aware first season is set up as a learning curve to full rugby. More contact and physicality will be introduced as the kids develop and move up in age groups. There will be a series of blitzes against other teams in the North East area.
The coaches for the 2012/13 season include Johnny Horkan and and can be reached at U7.Coach@BoyneRFC.ie

The training schedule from September 2012 will be as follows:
Boyne U7’s travelled to Ashbourne on Sunday 24th February for their first blitz of 2013. It was a cold frosty morning, but pitch conditions were perfect. A strong turn out by Boyne meant 2 teams were fielded. A lot of substitutes were on hand so players were rotated to give everyone a chance.
Our lads were keen from the start with every player giving 100% effort, not allowing the opposing teams any space. At every restart our lads pushed forward immediately, putting pressure on the ball carrier and keeping the opposition in their own half.
Enough Boyne U7 players turned up on Sunday morning in Balbriggan RFC to field 3 teams. Adam, Cenan, Ciaran, Donal, Harry and Tadhg were on my team and what a team they turned out to be, displaying some great attacking play.
Our first game was against Ratoath and our lads put the pressure on from the start, pushing forward holding Ratoath in their own half, before forcing the turn over and running in for try number one. Super support play from the Boyne lads led to a further 6 tries taking the game by 7 tries to 5.
On a cold, crisp, frosty Sunday morning the lads turned up for their home blitz of the season at Shamrock Lodge. We had enough players to field three teams, with Neill, Padraig and Peter taking a team each, leaving Johnny to organise the morning’s games and referee. Again John Lowes was on hand to help with the refereeing.
Boyne Under 7’s travelled to Navan on a cold, wet Sunday morning, unlike the sunny morning of last year. We had enough players to field two teams. Neill and Padraig took the younger players, while Peter took the rest with John Lowes helping out by refereeing. A big thank you to John.
Boyne U7s' had a great first match playing against Navan. They moved forward on all levels with the team, with some of the players on their second season which helped support the team.

Wow what a great day at Boyne RFC, once in a life time chance to spend one on one time with the 3 best players in Europe, Johnny Sexton, Brian O'Driscoll & Paul O'Connell, Paul was fantastic with the kids.
I was looking after Boyne B, the team got off to a slow start being thrown in the deep end 2 matches early and the traffic holding up some of the team,
Christopher went in with an early run for a try but came back with a twisted ankle, I was very proud of the effort he put in to keep going throughout the day, real commitment to the team.
The team tried hard with the slightly different rules of the day, larger pitches seemed to throw them and our missing fullback Jo, for the first time since November we lost a match, which set the tone for the rest of the day. It was great to see Sean back after a few months out, he followed Liam in taking a pass and scoring in the second match with some great support play. I am very much looking forward to seeing Harry Lowes, Rory Dunne and Sean all of which are under 6's back next season leading the next U7's team.
